A Day at Work – Textbook

The Pico House Hotel in 1934 was one of the first classy hotels in Los Angeles. It had plush suites with thick carpets and velvet curtains, overlooking La Placita in downtown Los Angeles. In its day, it accommodated the wealthy and political leaders visiting Los Angeles. By 1934 with the growth of Los Angeles leaving the La Placita, the newer hotels on Main Street seemed to attract the latest Los Angeles business community. Still, there were the faithful customers who kept their loyalty to the hotel in exchange for impeccable service from the Pico House. It was a three-story building with painted bricks and beveled windows in every room.
