It was in the evening, late June 1965. The time had already changed, so the Minnesota sun didn’t set until 9:00 p.m. The younger kids Susan, Diane, Kathy, and Steven, were outside playing in the front yard. Alice, fifteen-years-old, was cooking dinner, and Lana a year older was painting her fingernails. Jimmy, their older brother arrived home, hoping to be in time for dinner. Michael Lore, their father came out of his bedroom and joined his older children in the kitchen.
